About the Isle of Dogs
The Isle of Dogs is located in the borough of Tower Hamlets, and is the fastest growing population in the UK. More than two thirds of the population within Tower Hamlets belong to BAME groups, making it one of the most diverse populations in the country, and it also hosts a high rate of young working age people.
The Isle of Dogs itself is split into varying areas, including being a stone throw away from the financial district known as Canary Wharf.
There’s immense need as well as potential to make a difference in the lives of the young people here. We are excited to be investing in the young people of today and inspire hope for the future, particularly after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Vision
To establish a strong and healthy Young Life community in Tower Hamlets. To be a positive voice in young people's lives by meeting them where they are at and building authentic and trusting connections with them. We want to create a safe space with activities and courses where they can make friends with others and flourish. As witnessed across Young Life International around the globe, when young people are seen, heard and believed in by adults and know that God loves them, it can transform their lives.
The vision will be achieved through service projects in the community, raising up a team of volunteers who are passionate about young people as well as a supportive adult committee.
